The Heart of Long Beach
Cambodiatown is located in the heart of Long Beach, and contains one of the most vibrant local food systems in Southern California.
From its bustling markets and organic farms and gardens, to community healing centers, empowered home kitchens and incredible eateries run by local residents, there's much to explore and appreciate in the largest Cambodian community outside of Cambodia.
This walking tour will span a handful of sites in a little over a mile, starting at Dong Mai market and ending at Gladys Ave Urban Farm.
Along the way, attendees will be treated to bites from Chef Chad Phuong (Cambodian Cuisine) and his noodle cart, Monorom Cambodian Restaurant, and caterers Navy's Cambodian Kitchen and Chef Ollie Cigliano (Ollie's Kitchen) making Cambodian Sandwiches.
The tour is hosted by Laura Rhatmeny Som, executive director of The MAYE Center and proceeds benefit their non-profit organization dedicated to self-healing and cultivation of well-being through an integrated practice of physical, spiritual and community growth.
Special entertainment and talks will be included, and attendees will learn about the ways the community is organizing to keep the Anaheim corridor a diverse, walkable, international destination.
All Foodways Summit events are made possible by the generous supporr of Primal Alchemy Catering, Long Beach's Chef-owned catering company specializing in cooking with organic, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
